You can help our young people understand the importance of hearing health. More than 1 in 10 students have some form of hearing loss, due principally to loud, modern technology. In addition:

Hearing loss is the #1 chronic birth defect
Over 35 million Americans have a significant hearing loss
Eighty percent of those diagnosed with hearing loss do not seek help
Billions of dollars are lost annually in the U.S. due to untreated hearing loss.

"Listen Up!," a book written by Natalie Garibian Peters, was commissioned by Empowerment Through Hearing (ETH) to educate teens about the ear and about causes/prevention of hearing loss. Written in ‘kid-speak,’ it’s a fun, breezy read, filled with graphics and amusing ‘Trivia Questions.’

"Listen Up!" was chosen by the Palm Beach County Schools leadership to be distributed, with a learning component, to teachers of all eighth grade classes throughout Palm Beach County.
